How the Money Works

Candidates campaigns have contribution limits. However, candidates and legislators can have a Political Committee that can take unlimited contributions. Also, these Political Committee's can move money from PC to PC in an unlimited amount the source of contributions hard to follow.

Government Not For Sale

Political Committees

Political Committees (PCs) in Florida can take unlimited donations. This system is the legal laundering of campaign finances to deceive the voters.

Leadership Funds

The leadership in the Florida Legislature holds more power than just their positions. Leadership has their own slush fund inside the party apparatus in which they can contribute to or spend money on candidates who have committed to voting in line with their agendas.

Committee Week Loophole

Florida law does not allow sitting legislators to campaign during the legislative session to ensure that money is not influencing policy. However, during interim committee weeks each year legislators are casting votes on whether legislation moves forward in the legislative process and can STILL fundraise. Money fundraisers are held right in Tallahassee during these weeks. Legislators are holding a fundraiser one night and casting real votes on legislation they next morning.
